Getting there: Air Canada on points for dpr, met d2 there on his way back from Asia

Where we stayed: We stayed at the Sheraton Wall Centre, which is a close walk to all of downtown, and about 10 minutes from the nearest transit station to the airport. The staff here were pretty accommodating when dpr checked in before noon on the first day. The fitness centre is well equipped, but it’s a bit awkward to get to as you *have* to go outside of the hotel to get to it. dpr treated herself to a facial here – totally worth it.

Fun: This was a long weekend visit, and since we’ve been to Vancouver a few times, this was more about just hanging out. Vancouver was rainy when we were there, but it lightened up enough to do a lovely seawall run. There’s always Yaletown’s shops, Robson street, Coal Harbour, and Granville Island (a short water taxi ride following a walk from the hotel). There’s also shops on West Broadway and lots of yummy coffee and food (Vera’s for burgers!). We didn’t make it to Stanley Park this time, but that’s another favourite spot.

Tips:  1. Take the airport train to downtown – way more convenient than a cab and much easier on the wallet. 2. Bring an umbrella and lots of layers, depending on the weather. We visited in late October – it was cool and damp, and the umbrella came in very handy.

Killer whale on the waterfront Vera's burger!
