Getting there: Air Canada/Lufthansa

Where dpr stayed: The Melia Castilla. This is a large, very weird smelling (think piped-in fake flower smells) hotel. The staff were nice enough and helpful, and there was a large buffet breakfast included with the room rate. Pretty good sized room for Europe, a few blocks to a subway station, restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Not the best hotel she’s stayed in, and not the worst either.

Fun: Not much time on this trip for personal exploring, but there was some time, so dpr ventured to the subway, clutching her purse with a death grip. She went to the main tourist area of Sol, and spent a lot of time in the pedestrian streets and shopping districts here. Lots of fun just venturing in and out of shops, and enjoying the yummy coffee and churros. There was also a great food market (see pic below) in this central area that had all sorts of tappas to try.

market Mercado mmmm...latte and churro! quaint shopping street
