Where dpr stayed: The Estancia. Lovely hotel – very Spanish feeling, beautiful gardens and grounds, free wifi, free coffee and tea in the room, nice toiletries, good size room, well equipped gym, great whirpool and pool area. Really friendly staff as well.
Fun: Only really the mornings to be on her own before meetings, dpr headed straight to the cliff and down to the beach for a run. The hotel’s whirlpool was also a good wind-down at the end of a long meeting-filled day, and you really can’t go wrong when the view from these cliffs is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. If you have more time, you can check out Torrey Pines State Park for a hike, which is about a 5-minute drive down the road, and of course there’s Del Mar, just slightly further than that.
